Colorado Research in Linguistics Relaunches

After a hiatus ofÌýmore than 6 years,ÌýColorado Research in Linguistics (CRIL)Ìýhas been relaunched as a peer-reviewedÌýÌýhostedÌýby ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Scholar,Ìýa service ofÌýUniversity Libraries. A student-run working papers periodical,ÌýCRIL has been published at the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ since 1971. Its purpose is to provide anÌýoutlet for new findings and original works by both graduate students and faculty in the Department of Linguistics and allied ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ departments. Today's CRIL gives students the opportunity to participate on both sides of theÌýacademic publishing business (asÌýcontent providers and content producers)Ìýearly in their academicÌýcareers and joinsÌýworld-wide efforts to open access to academic content.ÌýBenefits of CRIL’s new platform include:

  • Secure, long-term storage in ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Libraries’Ìý.
  • Visibility in University LibrariesÌýÌýand Google Scholar search results.
  • PlumX Metrics (e.g. number of abstract views, full text downloads, etc.).
  • Availability of readership distribution and usage reports (per article, volume, and entire journal).

The Department sees the newly relaunchedÌýCRIL as an importantÌýoutlet for the work of emerging scholarsÌýand a channel for new research results. It will provideÌýa forum for bothÌýÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ students and the sociocultural and cognitive-functional commitments that drive linguistic research programs at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½.ÌýThe Department is sponsoringÌýa CRIL relaunch event onÌýWednesday October 17, 2:00-3:00pm, in Hellems 285Ìý(linguistics conference room). CRIL organizers will release additional information aboutÌýthe relaunch event, a call for Editorial Board applications, and a call for paper submissions.Ìý
