The Boston Box Lacrosse League returns to fall-winter action with its premier league playing Tuesday nights, beginning Nov. 2 and running through March 1 at South Shore Sports Center in Hingham, Mass.
“It’s great to be back,” said Chuck Jaffe, partner in the league. “We’ve waited a long time for this and each team has a great roster, a deep bench and a good understanding of how to play box, so it should be a great season.
The league opens Nov. 2 and games are at 9 and 10 p.m. There is no play the week of Thanksgiving, the league action stops for holiday pick-up lacrosse on Dec. 21 and 28, and then the season resumes with Jan. 25 designated as a week to recover from any weather shutdowns or as a bye. All four teams will have 12 regular-season games, with a playoff round on Febr. 22, 2022, followed by the championship finals on March 1.
The cost per player is $315, which is discounted to $300 for players who pay by check or with cash. Players who have a team assignment can sign up online at BostonBoxLax.com. Players hoping to get a spot in the league should notify Jaffe and/or Randy Fraser, the league’s other managing partner, at bostonboxlacrosse.com.
The Box Lacrosse League is New England’s home for real box lacrosse. The league plays under National Lacrosse League rules, with slight modifications, and is a member of US Indoor Lacrosse. The league began play in 2011 located in Revere and held its first summer league in Hingham in 2012. The BBLL’s summer league runs from June into early August, also at South Shore Sports Center.
